It’s time for a new Question of the Month, one which will see us attempt to answer a quandary that has been puzzling the gaming community since we first felt sorry for the frog who had to cross the busy road to get home. But first let’s find out who won October’s challenge!

The winner

Last month, Megan from A Geeky Gal asked: In honour of Halloween, tell me what video game scared you the most. What is it about the elements, environments, music, or characters in the video game that scared you? She reviewed all the answers submitted in response and here is her judgement:

“The reason I picked That Green Dude’s post is not only because Fatal Frame is one of my all-time favorite horror game series, but because I think we can all relate to being afraid after playing such a scary game and it affecting us in real life. I appreciate Brandon’s honesty and love that his dad had his back so he could continue to play games!”

Congratulations to Brandon and thank you to everyone who joined in with October’s question! Now let’s find out more about our latest star blogger along with the challenge they’ve set us for November 2018.

The blogger

Sheikah Plate is the first place you should look on the internet whenever you’re feeling hungry. This innovative blog has been going for a year and a half and is run buy the lovely Teri Mae from Utah in the United States. You’ll find posts that are a cross between video games and cooking as she works her way through all the recipes from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild; and although she’s now over halfway through, some of the hardest are yet to come. I have every faith that she’s going to pull it off though!

It’s pretty obvious what her favourite series is and Teri Mae says this is because she loves The Legend of Zelda story, characters and exploration. Top of her list is Ocarina of Time because of its puzzle-ridden temples (although she admits nostalgia plays a part too) and next up is Skyward Sword. It might get a bad rap due to the notion controls, but finally getting to see the beginning of the timeline captured this blogger’s attention. She may refer to herself as a ‘Nintendo-obsessed nerd’ but she does enjoy other games such as Overwatch too.

If you’re looking for something for dinner, why not try Teri Mae’s Creamy Heart Soup? It’s her favourite post because it was the first time she was forced to be creative because of the constraints of the game recipe: she had to use a few weird ingredients and succeeding gave her a big confidence boost, showing her she can overcome cooking challenges that at first seem impossible. However, if you’re looking for her own favourite recipe then check out either the Veggies Cream Soup or the Vegetable Curry as they frequently make an appearance on her table at home.

The challenge

The question set for us by Teri Mae is: If you could only play one game for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? This doesn’t include series – you can’t choose ‘Zelda games’, you must choose Ocarina of Time for example. This question assumes that the developer will continue to update the game if it has bugs that need fixing. It also assumes that, if the game has previously been released with DLC, there will continue to be new DLC for the game forever. If there is an online multiplayer mode it also assumes that there will also be a full lobby for you to play in. So what would you choose?

If you’d like to get involved, publish your answer to Teri Mae’s question at a time that suits you before 26 November 2018 and leave us a link in the comments below. There are no rules on word-limit or format so you can be as creative as you like: write a post, record a video, create a drawing, or impress us with another unique idea.

Our star blogger will then choose their favourite entry and the winner will be announced at the beginning of December. Good luck to everyone who’d like to participate this month!

  1. Oh, god, no. I can’t participate this month. I just wrapped up a whole week on my blog about The Witcher, I can’t go back there 😅
But that would be the game of my choice. Imagine, constant DLC updates like that of “Blood and Wine”, which was basically the original game’s sequel. If the quality always stayed top notch, I’d never get tired of that.

    • Talk about bad timing ha ha! If you’d like to submit a post you’ve already written as your answer though, please feel free to do so!

My other-half loves The Witcher but it’s another series I’ve yet to get really involved in. When we first met he tried to get me to play the second game but because of my weird habit about playing titles in order, I couldn’t get into it. 😂

    • Welcome to the Question of the Month! 😀

I wrote a post on a similar subject a while ago, so I already had a head start on knowing which game I was going to choose. Originally narrowing it down though was tough and I struggled to decide too!

  8. All right, I did it. It wasn’t hard, although writing my pieces was a weirdly emotional experience. Apologies in advance if this is kind of silly, but it’s the first thing that came to mind when I started writing.

    • It’s not silly at all… Minecraft isn’t a game I usually enjoy, but I totally get why you picked it as the answer. Sometimes the best thing about a title is the community that surrounds it. 🙂
